Road to Pioneer
The Challenge Begins
August 20, 2026

On August 20, 2027, Jeff Campbell turns 60. He and his wife Alicia are marking that birthday by climbing the South Summit of Pioneer Peak, above Palmer, Alaska — the exact mountain, on the exact day. That's Pioneer 60.
The last six years included major health challenges and real change for Jeff. The years since have been about recovery and rebuilding — not returning to who he was before, but becoming who he is now. None of it has been a solo journey. Alicia has walked every step of it beside him, and she has had a journey of her own along the way.
Pioneer 60 isn't primarily about proving physical capability. It's about choosing, deliberately, to keep moving forward — and it's built to resonate with anyone whose own "mountain" has nothing to do with health at all. Everyone is carrying something they're climbing through.
A switchback can make it look like you're walking away from the summit. But you're still gaining elevation.
There is no fee to participate in the climb. You don't have to reach the South Summit to belong — training with us, joining the support team, or simply following along all count. This site, and this project, will grow over the next year: training content, mountain information, weather, event details, and a real community around the climb.
We don't want to simply count birthdays. We want to make them count.
We're still climbing. Join us.
